recharging

My darling daughter has been hijacked again by the Toddler Tantrums. I really don’t know what set her off (although I have a suspicion*), but it’s been absolute hell the past 10 days. She starts screaming the minute she wakes up and has a tantrum over every. little. thing. Socks, shoes, pjs, stories, hairdryers, toothbrush… you name it, she screams. And worse of all, she’s started screaming when we leave her at daycare, which she rarely did before.

I believe my neighbours are beginning to wonder what kind of torture I inflict on her judging from how her screams must sound to anyone passing by. At least yesterday was worse than today. We actually managed to get dressed this morning with only 1 fit when the pajamas came off.

I think what’s so frustrating, too, is that one minute she’s laughing and playing and having a good time, and the next minute she’s on the floor screaming.

I comfort myself by saying “this too shall pass” ; “it’s a phase” ; “it’s totally normal”. She went through this last summer and we lived to tell the tale. So, I’m hoping this too will pass sooner rather than later. Of course, this puts all potty training and graduation to a big girl bed on hold — so reason to add more stress to the situation.

*my suspicion: her favourite teacher at school left 10 days ago and she’s not adjusted to this yet. The other teachers are great — but I think Maja really really really misses Miss N.

  1. Poor Maja! Change is hard.
Poor Mum and Dad! Screaming Maja is hard, too.
