library biking

I have been trying to think of ways to get some biking with Maja in during the week. Since yesterday was a nice day I decided that I would meet the crew over at the library in the evening, get some books out with Maja and then ride home with Maja in her bike seat.

I have to admit, after our crash on our maiden voyage, I was nervous. However I didn’t want to have this rule my life! I plotted out a route that was direct and only involved 2 streets with minimal appearance of trolley tracks.  While we were waiting at a traffic light I checked-in with Maja to see if she was having fun and her answer was: “Yes, because we’re not crashing.” Fair enough.

  1. Don’t you love how honest children are? Thank you for posting this, it made me giggle :-)

  2. I think it’s great that you’re taking Maya along with you on your bike.

Trolley tracks make me nervous. I avoid them whenever possible. I took a spill in Center City once– luckily, I was able to pull over and not get hit by a car.

  3. oops– sorry for misspelling Maja’s name. I have another friend whose daughter’s name is spelled Maya.

  4. Glad this bike ride went so well. I get so nervous riding bikes on the street, through traffic, I miss the fun you and Maja are having. And her comment was cute!

BTW, thanks for you comment on my blog too! :-)

  5. From the mouths of babes, right? I like that Maja tells it like it is.

  6. Don’t know what the Philly bikinig-with-family culture is, but in Corvallis it’s amazing! There are families who bike their kids into daycare all year long, rain or shine. There are families who have a kid on a bike seat on the back, plus a kid in a sort of “half bike” with one wheel hitched on, and then a kid or two more in a trailer pulled behind! I’ve even seen pet trailers like a side car. Anyhow, we are not this hardcore, but we do have a double bike trailer that I “scored” at Goodwill–a woman was unloading it for donation and said, sure, she’d give it to me!!! It’s a good way for Evan to get some exercise and get the kiddos out of my hair…

  7. I am a occasional secret viewer that leaves no comment but smiles at the adorable pics and videos of what our little nieces are up to this time. Love the comment from Maja! Something Sara would totally say. Hope all is well in Philly! Love from the King Gang in Delaware:))
