issues with socks

Filed under: Knitting WIP — freeformkatia @ 12:28 pm

I’ve never suffered from SSS (second sock syndrome) until this most recent pair. I knit and finished sock #1 weeks and weeks ago… and just couldn’t get started on #2. I finally did, and then left it again for several weeks because I couldn’t remember what I did with the heel on #1. Last weekend I picked it up again and did the heel… only to discover this:

Note the size difference.

Sock on left is #2.

Today, it being Friday and all, I attended the work knitting  group. After extensive consultation with my fellow knitter, Amey, it was determined that I did something different (what the different was was never clearly defined) and that it needed to be remedied.

riiiiiiip

I examined again. I fussed, I measured, I counted. I concluded that I really had done nothing different. sigh. So, I knit up the heel again, this time a little looser and came up with this:

Sock on left is #2.

Go figure.  I think I’m over the hump and can now continue with the leg and finish this pair of socks off.

  1. May have been all in the ‘tension’.Is sock #2 now a little larger than sock on the right? —– just kidding.
