Happy 2007

I’m back! But before I get going, I want to apologize for the lack of photos: I forgot my camera at my parents’ house!

The drive:

Let me set the scene: 17 hours in a car VW Golf with a toddler, a dog, and two adults. And luggage. Maja did amazing. No screaming fits of tantrums. We entertained her with books, tickle games, songs, and stickers. On the first day on the way up we stopped at the Pittsburgh Zoo, she enjoyed that. On the first day on the way back we stopped at an Applebees. I enjoyed that (steak!). We didn’t hit any bad weather, roads were clear and dry.

The visit:

EVERYONE (except Richard) got the stomach flu. We just passed it around, sympathized when the next person got it and tried to take it in stride. There was no snow (crazy), so we went for walks instead. Richard and my dad spent their days working in the wood shop, building a rocking horse for Maja. It’s done except for the assembly, which Richard will do this weekend!

So, it was a low-key Christmas. I got to see the new James Bond movie (liked it) and The Holiday (liked it). We also went to Echo Bay to visit Elyn and her family one day. That’s it!

2007 was rung in here in Philly — although we didn’t make it to midnight. And then yesterday we had a lovely Open House brunch. Now it’s back to work… and the daily grind.

  1. Happy New Year, Katia and family. I know what you mean about no snow on Christmas. There was none in Montreal nor in Toronto (although that’s not much of a surprise).

Sorry to hear that everyone got sick. My husband’s family was getting over something, too, and now he’s come down with a touch of it himself. I’ve *knock wood* managed to avoid it.

Too bad about getting back to the daily grind so soon. Our library opens tomorrow but I am taking this week off. I’m not due back til the 8th.

  3. one more exciting thing we did in the Sault: go to the pool and splash in the toddler area (my knees are still scraped looking – haven’t had that for at least 30 years, ha ha)
