Happy Valentine’s Day
I made these Valentine’s Day cards at the beginning of February using some beautiful origami paper that my mom gave me a few years ago. I think they turned out quite nicely, even though the glue made the paper warp a little. I was wondering if in the future I could scan the heart in to the computer and then print the image on to card stock… that would mean I need to get a scanner/printer. Ah well, in due time.
Then last night I did the ultimate over-achieving mom thing: I stayed up until 11pm baking red velvet cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting for Maja & Madeleine to take to school and share. I always feel the need to do something like this because my over-achieving mom set the bar for Valentine’s very high: every year she would bake heart-shaped cookies for EACH AND EVERY CLASSMATE in each of her daughter’s classes throughout grade school (there are 3 of us) and then decorated them with pink icing and wrote each child’s name on a cookie in white icing. I think my mom was very glad when my younger sister skipped a grade early on in elementary school to join me in my grade and she only had to make cookies for 40 kids instead of 60.
No wonder my mom was so tired all the time. Tell me mom — what on earth possessed you to do this?!? It must have been love.
