Maja really likes helping me (or Richard, or anyone else for that matter) cook in the kitchen. She likes to measure, she LOVES to stir, she enjoys watching things bake in the oven.
Here’s a short video of Maja making and feeding me dinner. I do question her choice of ingredients and am very glad it’s pretend.
What I didn’t mention about my day on Monday is that Maja was in a TERRIBLE mood. She was downright cranky and every. little. suggestion. was. met. with. a. whine. It very nearly drove me right over the edge — which is probably why she was doing it. So, when the nanny called me at work on Tuesday and said she couldn’t come in on Wednesday my stomach did flip-flops. We barely made it though Monday in one piece! I could not face another day of tears, whining, tantrums and contrariness.
Yesterday, however, turned out to be a fantastic day. Maja was in a great mood from sun-up to sun-down. She was agreeable, happy, smiling, laughing… really, a joy to be with. My suggestions on activities were met with a “ok mom! yeah, let’s do that!” instead of Monday’s “noooooo! don’t wannaaaaaaa doooo thaaaaat!!” We went to music class and then did a quick errand at the grocery store to buy a new muffin tin, as Maja had requested we make banana muffins. My old muffin tin was covered with rust and I didn’t want to risk giving anyone lockjaw. Back at home we had a good time making muffins and then eating them for lunch. Mmmm.
Nap time! Maja slept. She slept for 2 hrs. It was astounding. She woke up in a good mood! Another miracle.
We then did an artproject: caterpillars made with a cut-up egg carton, paint, and pipe cleaners.
Madeleine, meanwhile, did some tummy time:
And Emerson was hoping that I would throw his rope toy:
